4001 A.D.: Bloodshot #1

Jun 13, 2016

Doug Braithwaite's art matches Jeff Lemire's writing word for panel. The layout alone is impressive with fractured distorted viewpoints that contain elaborate sequences of destruction. Bloodshot's design is really cool too. His red mesh/nanite body with a rising-sun hole in his chest is quite unique. Every character, especially their face, seems painstakingly drawn with minute detail. It's a wonderful book to look at.

Batman (2016) #2

Jul 8, 2016

Batman #2 is a book that holds its own. It may not be as good as the first, but we get to see more of the mysterious Gotham duo and what they can do. Batman and his comrades are depicted on point, so that's a very pleasant victory for this exuberant fan base.Trust has always been Batman's wart. Has he turned the corner or is he prepping for somethinginsidious? Only Tom Kingknows! I'm excited to find out!

Dark Knight III: The Master Race #5

Jul 2, 2016

DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE #5 has a lot of interesting creative and societalcomponents that could be evaluated. I question some aspects of it, particularly the tie-in and Batman's immense pride of fear, but it's not a bad book. Plenty of fun things happen, especially the mini-Justice League that's formed. I still recommend the bookand have hopes for the series getting better.

Detective Comics (2016) #934

Jun 13, 2016

DETECTIVE COMICS #934 is a rebirth comic that is open to everyone. The new Bat-Family is like a new Outsiders group, which adds new wrinkles to future stories and a dynamic that will surely keep the book interesting. The future is bright in dark, grimyGotham.

Flash (2011) #52

May 25, 2016

This issue may not stand the test of time, but it's pleasant. DC Rebirth is casting an awfully large shadow on The Flash's New 52 exit, so it's a fair conclusion with this in mind. The series, as a whole, delivers plenty of well-rounded stories, but it never quite reaches the heights of The Flashpoint Paradox or the previous canon of Wally West's tenure. It's trapped in an awkward time for DC, but hopefully, the future is bright.

I Hate Fairyland #6

Jun 16, 2016

I HATE FAIRYLAND #6 is a bloody fun comic. It's a glimpse of Gertrude as queen, and it actually featuresa surprise tweak to the story in its final pages. Gallows humor ison full display, as Gertrude accidentally spreads carnage and death across the land. Her insanity is also at a peak.No longer can Gertrude do whatever she wants in a place she despises, so she keeps spiraling downwards and the poor anthropomorphicbottles get the full brunt of it. I HATE FAIRYLANDis easily one of my favorite comics. The dark elements mixed with comedic moments remind me a little of RICK AND MORTY and INVADER ZIM. All of these are rich in self-depreciation, outrageous chaos, and violence blended with even more ludicrous humor. If you like that stuff, thenget aboard the crazy train. All hail Queen Gert!

Looney Tunes #231

Jun 23, 2016

I personally am a sucker for licensed comics. I find themto be a great extension oftheirindividual universe. This comic is no different. Itallowed my mind to take a break from the stress of daily life and devour the cartoon mayhem"to just enjoy the little things. And that's all, folks!

Paper Girls #6

Jun 5, 2016

The focus should be on the girls. The twists keep the book grounded and Vaughan certainly gets the benefitof the doubt. I just hope the story doesn't go too off the rails because theactual paper girls have been the highlight of these books and should be the focus, not time travel nonsense.

Paper Girls #8

Aug 4, 2016

Fortunately, because of the water bear blood bath, the mysterious nature of the three Erins, and the continuous development of all the characters, PAPER GIRLS #8 is a treat. This issue really got me excited for upcoming issues again. The characters are so open and their growth seeps out of the panels. This book is also great for any new readers looking for similar content to STANGER THINGS, as well. The urge to see the gang overcome their perplexing situation is as strong as ever, so go and grab yourself a copy.

Pencil Head #3

McKeever may be digging at the comic book industry, but he is also evaluating himself. It's as open, as it is strange, so give it a chance!

4.3 Slayed Thugs. There is no Frank Castle. There is only The Punisher, and The Punisher doesn't play pattie-cake; he smashes you with a cinder block.
