Batman: Nightwalker #1

Oct 1, 2019

I would be lying if I said this wasn't a necessary read if you love Batman and Bruce Wayne. Honestly, we have had a few favorites in the past few months from DC. They are creating these narratives for teenagers that are being done incredibly well. The stories are modern, but they aren't changing the character we know and love. They are not modifying the personality of Bruce, but instead, making the narrative more kid-friendly if necessary. That is important to understand.

Black Canary: Ignite OGN

I think this is a fun novel to read, no matter the age. You can have a lot of fun with this comic and it gives a charming story to Dinah. As we were reading, we found ourselves nostalgic about our middle school days because Dinah was such a powerhouse. The narrative further adds to the positives of this novel. I would also say if you loved the original character in the DC Universe, then you will appreciate this wonderful coming-of-age story.

Canopus #1

Feb 19, 2020

The first issue has created a sense of anxiety, but I want to go back for more? It is a conundrum, but the first issue is worth the read, no matter how much time you don't have this week, read this one.

Canopus #2

Yes. So far, the second issue is better than the first and that is saying a lot. While the themes can be intense, the story is so wonderful that you can't help but keep wondering about where Helen is and what this place means to her. It isn't just a place to torment her, but instead a place to teach her a lesson perhaps? A place that has her family? Maybe she is in the hospital and dying and this is her alternate dream sequence? Who knows, but I am so very intrigued to continue learning more about Helen and her adventure to nowhere.

Ghosted (2013) #1

Oct 9, 2019

You can tell that this series is made by people who love the story. That is important in comics, with any medium, but comics especially. I am excited to see what the team does to me next month, my heart can't take much more, but bring it on Sina! How much trouble can Daphne get into?

Hawkeye: Freefall #1

Jan 4, 2020

If you enjoy Clint Barton/Hawkeye, you will appreciate this first issue. The other previous series " after Fraction and Aja " were 50/50. Whether you enjoy them or you don't, this one falls after Fraction and Aja. Within the first issue, I get such warm feelings that this story will be entertaining and remind me a lot of Kelly Thompson's work with Kate Bishop. I would say if you enjoyed Thompson's work with Hawkeye and Jessica Jones, you would appreciate this. It isn't the same tone, but it is on the same measure as those other series. They are not the same, but they are both incredibly entertaining to read, which is why I recommend both.

The Black Ghost #1

You can tell that the team knows what they want to do and where they want to go with this series. The story is defined as well as the illustrations, lettering, and overall writing.

Vampironica: New Blood #1

Dec 4, 2019

It is astonishing how the team can keep the lore expanding and growing and there are no loopholes yet. There's nothing that has been missed, nothing that has been confusing thus far, I only want to know more and more about Veronica and her parents and how Vampires and Werewolves have existed in Riverdale.
