Forever Evil #7

May 22, 2014

Lex Luthor is the hero that we need and the hero we deserve. And he's pretty entertaining to boot.

Justice League (2011) #1

Sep 13, 2011

OK, first things first. I really enjoyed this issue. It was a great introduction to Batman and Green Lantern with good teases for Cyborg and Batman. The artwork is crystal clear throughout and we get to have a really good look at the outfits and armour for the three established heroes. Johns and Lee were the perfect choice for this book, as Johns writes the different characters as clearly as Lee illustrates them. If the rest of the New DCU is up to this standard, then I'll be sticking around for a long time to come.

Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #2

Jun 12, 2014

Issue 2 of the newest iteration of Ultimate Spider-Man isn't big on action, and relies instead of close ups and character moments. Luckily, artist David Marquez is more than up to the task of making another of Bendis' patented talking-heads issues seem interesting. The poses and expressions of the characters tell as much of a story as the dialogue does. Miles Morales has been very lucky when it comes to the artists who help tell his story, and it's great to see that trend continue in the new series.

Mouse Guard: The Black Axe #2

Aug 11, 2011

Overall, the issue was enjoyable, but this series is definitely not a jump-on-point for Mouse Guard and the lettering style gets very distracting at times.

Nova (2013) #18

Jun 23, 2014

A great script and an interesting, emotional story from Gerry Duggan is complemented by clear, detailed, kinetic artwork from David Baldeon and put togther, it makes for a great read that might just be the best part of Original Sin so far as well as a great story on its own merit.

S.H.I.E.L.D. (2014) #1

Jan 5, 2015

The first issue of S.H.I.E.L.D provides a great introduction to some characters that we think we already know, an interesting story, great art from Carlos Pacheco, a solid foundation, and loads of promise.

Star Trek #35

Jul 16, 2014

The conclusion of the issue will leave you more than eager to see what's going to come next, and now that the leg work of setting up the story has been done, one can only assume that the story will start to move a lot faster, but with five issues left in the story arc, there should be as much room for both character work and action as there was in this issue.
