The art of issue two continues its dynamic sense of motion and fluidity of the world above while introducing us to the heavy, rigidity of the surface world. A study of the framing of the books panels reinforces the joy of movement of the sky dwellers enjoy while at the same time highlighting the tense, oppressive surface world where wealth has artificially kept the status quo. In a mere two issues Skyward has presented us with a ballet set in a complex world of increasing beauty and burgeoning treachery.

In the space of three issues, Dead Hand has crafted a story that blends elements of James Bond, War Games, Twin Peaks, Picket Fences, Eureka! and the Twilight Zone episode 'It's a Good Life' to craft a red hot page-turner of a story, taking place during the still-unfolding fallout of the Cold War and the emergence of a second.
