If you're new to Rat Queens, this issues is not a good jumping on point. However, if you are current with the series, this issue is everything fans have come to love about Rat Queens: beautiful art, ass-kicking heroines and great writing. In the heat of the battle one's best qualities are often revealed. In this case it's as true for the characters as it is for the creative team behind them.

Even if all the nostalgia for the 90s X-Men cartoon was removed X-Men '92 would still be a fun comic to read. The battles are exciting, the dialogue is delightfully of the age and the plot is intriguing. If you are interested in reading any of the Secret Wars, this is a great book to pick up. It makes sense as a standalone and if you're a fan that isn't as invested in Secret Wars or X-Men cartoon nostalgia, this could be the book that gets you into both.

Overall, Gotham Academy: Endgame #1 is a good read for both fans of the series who want a side dish or those looking for a story that's more tightly tied into the main Batman universe. Even if you haven't been reading the regular run of Gotham Academy, I recommend picking this one up for its fun take on Joker myths and the fantastic art of Stokely, Chiang, Ang and Brosgol.

Arcadia is good, though not necessarily spectacular " yet. It has in its first few issues the promise of something great; there is enough substance here to entice a purchase and it's definitely worth reading if you have a couple of extra bucks. If you can't spare the money on singles, Arcadia will likely be a great read in trade.

RunLoveKill does not bring anything new to the genre, but it is a stable read, and sci-fi fans may find a comforting familiarity with the story. If nothing else, the book's a standout for its gorgeous artwork. Overall it may be worth reading, but RunLoveKill will probably be something better left until it's released in trade.
