I think this issue will help to draw in fans of the TV show curious enough to read the source comics. It does a great job explaining and connecting to what the average reader knows about the heroes. The comic also gives enough to make the story unique so that we aren't simply reading a scene from the show.

The overall joke is the irony of a super-villain psychiatrist treating other super-villains with the hope of curing them. No matter how hard Harley tries, she can't be anything other than bad. The Joker knows this (with his brief appearance), the audience knows it, and Harley eventually knows it. However, it's still fun to play along with the idea, especially since it's an April Fool's Special.

With great dialog and plot buildup, the gritty, noir miniseries is off to a great start. There was also a little fun in the story to make for an entertaining read. Like any good mystery, you need the introduction and the build-up before the crime and the investigation. As this is a miniseries, its a solid start.

If you missed issue #1, thats okay. Read PCUs review of it and pick this one up. Its very welcoming for those who saw the movie and would like to get into the comic book frenzy without having to delve into the DC archives. The story is taking a fun direction that Id be curious to follow.

This issue is a build-up to the next story arc, concluding what happened in the previous issues and dropping hints about where the story will be going next.Nothing dramatic happens, but that's not the point of issues like this. Dresden's Chicago isn't over after you close the book. The characters are still alive and well and build-up issues are more for character-building versus plot-building. They show how well (or not) our hero held up from the last adventure and whether he's ready for the next one. I can't wait for the next issue.
