Imperial #1
Aug 8, 2014 |
Look at the talent" art AND writing" in any of the other Image titles I mentioned in the beginning of this rant. It burns with originality and intensity. It fits the vibrant story lines and the unique characters. It pops with excitement and flair and each title makes me" seriously MAKES ME" anticipate the next installment. Imperial did not. |

Memetic (2014) #1
Oct 23, 2014 |
Tynion and Donovan have created a winner here"I'm not talking complete gold status, but a runner up with serious targets on the prize! It's a shame the story, slated for only a few issues, won't last but it is engrossing in its brevity. It's well-crafted and flows in every sense: in art, in theme, in dialogue, in baiting" Is Memetic fantasy? Horror? Prophecy? Or all three? Luckily, with only a three-issue limited run, we won't have long to find out! |

Nightworld #1
Aug 7, 2014 |
The point I'm trying to make here is that Nightworld is an interesting, albeit short, addition to the Image Comics line-up. (The title is only scheduled for a four-issue run.) The artwork is bold & beautiful and the tale is engaging with rich words, romantically delivered. The combinations make for a pretty little book (it really is something to fawn over) covering not-so-pretty subjects (death, hell, demons," you know: the fun stuff) but if the remaining issues prove as grand as the first, Nightworld will be hard dream to wake from. |

As I said earlier, I really didn't have high expectations for this comic, but I was delightfully surprised. And like Mikey craves another slice of pizza, I only want more! |

Overall, the book was entertaining and kept it's hold on me for the duration of the read, but with nothing truly outstanding or unique" either in picture or words" I doubt I'll pick up issue two" making the title oddly appropriate. |

The Transformers #4
Mar 8, 2010 |
Transformers #4 was a well-written and superbly characterized issue (though Hot Rod still feels a bit flat). The art and colors are finally coming into their own, even though the faces still look pretty awful. This issue has renewed my confidence in Costa and Figueroa, and I hope to see quality material such as this in the future. |

A bit un-needed, but still a great issue. Costa and Su have revitalized my confidence in the Spotlight series, and pretty much everything about this issue, I loved. Thanks, guys. |

Transformers Spotlight: Hot Rod #3

Spotlight: Hot Rod is another exquisite standalone tale from Furman and Roche. It gives you a clear, linear story while foreshadowing and setting up future plot points. Top-notch characterization, great art and beautiful colors. A comic masterpiece. Rated 8.5 out of 10. NEXT MONTH: Spotlight: Kup. Stranded on a energy-loaded planet and half-mad, Kup battles a horde of Zombots and his own, slowly-destabilizing spark. But is everything as it seems? |

Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers #2
Feb 26, 2010 |
Last Stand of the Wreckers #2 is a well-written issue that delivers smooth pacing, gory action, top-notch characterization and horrible inking. R & R have stepped up their story quality several notches and the story seems to be non-stop action from here on in. I cant wait. |

Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers #3
Mar 28, 2010 |
Last Stand of the Wreckers #3 was an entertaining and well-drawn read. The inconsistent creative team nevertheless delivered a consistent, unified issue that satisfies. Kudos to R & R for the epic foreshadowing and slow build-up that squeezes the money out of the poor buggers who read this fine series. The deteriorating standard of Burcham's coloring is a disappointment, though. Rated 8.5 out of 10. FAVE QUOTE: GUZZLE: "Ha-HA! Look! Their heads blow up! EVERY. SINGLE. TIME." |

Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers #4
Apr 28, 2010 |
I'm very happy with the job done on this issue and can't wait for the next. R & R have continued to deliver an awesome, high quality story, and while the art still leaves something to be desired, it's still great. The identity of Aequitas was a tad disappointing, to be sure, but overall I'm ecstatic at my purchase of this. If you haven't got this series then pre-order the TPB because it's one of the greatest Transformers stories ever! Rated 9 out of 10. Next month: The endgame begins. Their teammates are dead, their mission is in tatters, and all hope is lost. Time has run out for the last of the Wreckers, who confront the maniac responsible for the atrocities of the last 48 hours. Deaths, betrayals and long-promised revelations - truly, this one has it all! |
