A showdown on a zephyr. Every sacrifice hurts. Love endures and obliges. Lon Eisley has had a good run, but her story ends here. Stay in your seats for the coda, though, because the end is the beginning is, etc.
From Sami Kivela [CHUM] & Ryan K Lindsay [NEGATIVE SPACE, and DC Writers Workshop] comes this masterful conclusion to a gonzo dystopian tale of villain zephyr fortresses, a scorched Earth, and brutally hard choices.
At the end of the day, Beautiful Canvas was never destined to be a book for the masses. The story and the storytelling read as too layered, too personal, but the book that functions incredibly well in those regards. And for readers patient enough and thoughtful enough, a rewarding conclusion awaits. Read Full Review
Ryan K. Lindsay and Sami Kivela have created such an interesting and personal story set in the chaos of a bustling world that deserves to be more fully discovered. A part of me was disappointed in the final pages in which Lindsay said he doesn't plan on returning to Lon's story any time soon. However, I also believe there's merit and virtue to leaving this story where it ended; with both of these lover's ready to take on a whole new adventure with their past ghosts watching over them. Beautiful Canvas is an interesting book, featuring a mix of hybrid mutants, a pyrokinetic little boy and a hitwoman suffering a crisis of conscience, that may not have come together as well as I hoped. Read Full Review
