    Hellraiser: Resurrections - The Onanistic Ritual #1 understands what makes Hellraiser so deeply unsettling. Zac Thompson finds horror in isolation, desire, and the poisonous corners of online culture, then lets the Cenobites push those impulses somewhere far more grotesque. Jim is an awful yet strangely human figure, and his descent gives the supernatural horror a disturbing real-world foundation. Gavin Mitchell and the color team deliver plenty of gruesome imagery, particularly once Chatterer's journey through Hell takes hold. Some of that journey can be difficult to decipher, and the cartoonier qualities of the art occasionally soften moments that should sting harder.
