Explosive first issue! It's said there's no honor amongst thieves. Add to that a thief operating in the occult underground, and it's a whole different kind of nasty! Luci Jennifer Inagcio Das Neves, Lucifer for short, takes a new job that will expose her to the macabre underbelly of the city, and a secret that she'd rather nobody know. A brand new series by Michael Alan Nelson, the critically acclaimed author of FALL OF CTHULHU, hot new art talent Emma Rios and colorist Cris Peters! Available with two cover by Emma Rios and Joe Pekar.

Hexed is a great read, it goes by quickly, but it doesn't lack in substance--and that's what makes it such a great find. In the simplest of terms, if you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and enjoy crime stories, then you should thoroughly enjoy this hardcover collection. Read Full Review

Major Spoilers - Stephen Schleicher Oct 23, 2008

This is a fantastic first issue. There's a great team in Michael Alan Nelson, Emma Rios, and Cris Peter that is apparent from the opening pages all the way to the squeamish cliffhanger that is nothing like I've ever seen before. The writing is good, the characters are interesting, and I really like the supernatural thriller take on the story. I can't wait to see what happens in the coming installments, and if the remaining issues are as good as the first, Boom! Studios has another hit on its hands. Hexed #1 arrives in stores in December, and gets a well deserved 4.5 out of 5 Stars. Read Full Review

    IGN - Daniel Crown Jan 7, 2009

This issue really surprised me. While there isn't anything inarguably original about its story, Nelson provides plenty of evidence that a great deal of work went into developing its mythos. He unleashes his mysteries in a deliberate, referential fashion, never slapping the reader in the face with intent, while also establishing his story in a wholly comestible fashion. Hexed is well paced, at times brutal, and certainly a title worth keeping an eye on. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Oct 27, 2008

Boom! has found a niche market with the supernatural tales and with "Hexed" they stand poised to be noticed that this genre is theirs for the harvesting, offering up plenty of interesting character-driven and action-fueled stories. Read Full Review

Comics Bulletin - Geoff Collins Nov 6, 2008

BOOM! has been kind enough to send a lot of advance copies our way, so Ive read a lot of their books. So when Waid says, This is one of the best books BOOM! has published, I can informatively agree with that statement. In fact, much of what they've published hasn't been to my taste, but Ill definitely add this one to my pull list. Read Full Review

I gave this issue 2 1/2 bullets, because I hate to say reading, regardless of what, is a waste of time. Truth is though, I'd rather have been hexed, than have read Hexed. Read Full Review
