The only thing worse than getting bullied at school is seeing that bully transform into the chemically fueled, ten-foot engine of destruction know as Roid Rage! And the only thing more shocking than that golden goliath's origin is that Eric gets a girlfriend! This one has it all, kids! But beware, there's poop on the cover!
Bottom line, if youre looking for something fresh or innovative, EPIC is probably not for you. A lot of the characters, themes and events contained within these pages are almost as old as comics themselves. But if youre looking for an unapolagetic celebration of zany, over-the-top superheroics with some fantastically eye-catching visuals and an impressively likeable protagonist well EPIC may be exactly what youre looking for. I may not run to read Epic, but whenever it comes out I can't help but check it out. I enjoy the hell out of this series. Its greatest strength is that it's not trying to be dark and brooding. In fact it's not trying to do anything like the big two. It's not homaging them, it's not stealing a beat from their current lineup. In the mood for a new superhero tale not muddied by decades of continuity and crossovers and 100 page special issues? Looking for a fun read that will satisfy that itch for quality entertainment? Pick upa copy of Epic, it's only three issues in. See if ComixTribe can continue to ride the streak of good product.
