The whole concept of Empowered is giggle worthy. We're used to people pointing out the dangers of super hero capes and the absurdity of wearing underpants on the outside of outfits… but the notion of a super suit that is essentially dissolving and or tearing in front of our vary eyes both makes some degree of sense (wear and tear must surely be much more of an issue with supersuits than we are generally privy to) but also of course lends to the potential for many humorous events. When you get “attacked” with love… how can you possibly win? Tune in next time, same Empowered Comic, same Empowered Publisher and find out! Read Full Review

The Empowered series has been hailed as one of the best comics series that people should be reading, and for a very good reason. This series is a very humorous look at superheroes and superhero culture. It is the best answer to all the other books which are trying too hard to be dark and grim. Buy this issue and you are guaranteed to be entertained. Read Full Review

I've had mixed luck with Empowered in general and the spinoff material a bit more so but this Soldier of Love miniseries is off to a great start. Warren and Diaz work really well together with their different styles as he's adapting to her layout approach and panel dynamics and she's dealing with someone that really enjoys heavy dialogue pieces with both foreground and background elements. That can be frustrating in the main book with the black and white but the blending here has made this a lot more fun than I expected. I came away from it appreciating Warren's writing a bit more and now falling in love with Diaz's artwork and wanting to see a whole lot more of it. Fans of the property will definitely dig the book as it's pure Empowered in most ways but it's also a comically effective accessible work to new readers – and those that like the admittance that capes engage in sexytimes. I'm curious about this book now. It's satire with sex appeal. Nice, job half-naked super booby hero. First you got my attention, and then you got my interest. Read Full Review

If a girl in a buffalo mask making out with a puppy would offend you, maybe this is not for you. Otherwise, a hilarious first issue in an exciting new miniseries! Read Full Review

That's it for empowered, I have to say, it was ok. I'll probably read the rest of the series. I only have one question. Is her suit really made of stretched out versions of this? Fans of the series let me know. Read Full Review
