In a postapocalyptic wasteland populated by mutants and terrorized by flesh-eating ogres, a young amnesiac searches for the answers to the mystery of his identity. Wandering aimlessly, he comes to the rescue of Lorna, a young girl who gives him a name: Number 13. Facing danger at every turn, Number 13 fights to stay alive as his quest to find out who he is leads to the deadly truth of what he is.
Written by David Walker (Darius Logan: Super Justice Force) with artist Robert Love (Alpha Girl), Number 13 is a brew of intriguingly oddball ideas. Walker and Love seem to be aiming for a sci-fi yarn that effectively tugs on the readers curiosities. For that exact reason, issue #0 doesnt completely satisfy but does make you demand to see what additional horrors these characters are on collision a course with. Issue 0 of Number 13 is a near perfect entry to this mini-series. It hits all the right notes on creating a world new, but I definitely would have liked a little bit more mystery to who Number 13 is. This doesnt feel like anything terribly new, but it should find a home with those who enjoy character development first and a fleshed out world second. I give Number 13 #0 four stars""it has me hooked. It's not going to be a happy story, but I will be eagerly anticipating the future issues to learn more about these characters and their world. Buy it. Read Full Review

Number 13 has attracted my interest. I'm not a follower of many things Dark Horse, but this comic book appears to be a dark view of an apocalyptic and mutant world. We have already seen some creative mutants in this prequel issue and it has been a good introduction to the series for those who were not introduced to Number 13 in Dark Horse Presents. Number 13 #0, while a mouthful to say, is a good introduction to the series and we will be following the next issue to see if it is something we should be reading. Read Full Review
If you’ve already this story in DHP then yeah you might want to skip this issue. If you’d like a complete reading experience for the story and a refresher before the first issue hits then this is a great book to grab. This story had completely slipped underneath my radar and so the zero issue did a great job of introducing me to the world and making me aware of the series to follow, which I am now looking forward to.
