Star Wars: Crimson Empire, the story of the last Imperial Guardsman, returns after over a decade of anticipation!
The reach of the New Republic is expanding, but the days of fighting for the galaxy have not ended. A threat against Princess Leia and Han Solo's family disrupts usual business on Coruscant--and Luke Skywalker's Jedi training on Yavin 4!
In another part of the galaxy, a former Imperial Guardsman turned bounty hunter, Kir Kanos, is ready to settle an old score after three years in hiding--if a new adversary doesn't kill him first!
With as much history as there is here, and the time between installments, getting into Crimson Empire again can definitely be a challenge. But with what came before, there's likely to be some solid payoff to it in the least as it progresses, and I liked getting back in touch with this particular characters again. Read Full Review
Many Star Wars fans know the Imperial Guards were a tough group of soldiers. With the previous Crimson Empire stories, the final surviving guard, Kir Kanos is determined to get revenge against all that had a had in the death of Emperor Palpatine. While many Star Wars comics don't always feature the main cast, this mini-series is bringing Kanos up against Luke and Leia as he prepares the final phase of his revenge. The dramatic slope of this issue remains relatively flat from one end to the other, but it functions adequately to establish the setting and to introduce the characters. We're teased with brief flurries of combat from both bounty hunters and Jedi as well as a cameo by one of Kenix Kil's most popular colleagues, but there aren't any truly memorable moments to be found here. The New Republic era has had some time to air out since the deluge of Expanded Universe content in the 90's, and I'm optimistic that this series will be highly enjoyable when it kicks into gear. However, issue #1 never quite reaches that point. Read Full Review
