"THINGS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!" That's the overly dramatic crap publishers put in solicitation copy to get you to buy their books. The books that tell the same story over and over again. Nothing really changes. There's no impact. I'm not going to tell you anything that happens in this issue of Occasion of Revenge because to tell you anything would be to tell you too much. Other than that the Goon will never be the same again. Unlike some, I mean it.-Eric Powell

Occasion of Revenge ends on a mic drop. Powell is aware of what has been done and recognizes there will be no catharsis or relief. He has created a shift in the story so damaging that no words can express what has just been shown. There is no "The End" or "To Be Continued"; there is no need. This is the cut to black at the end of The Sopranos, leaving the audience to sit uncomfortably with what they have just experienced. The Goon will return in 2015, but the series and its characters will never be the same. Like Powell, they are evolving, changing, moving forward into whatever terrible darkness is yet to come. In the best traditions of classic noir fiction, we bear witness to a pivotal moment in the transformation of a character who, as Powell stated himself, will never be the same again. Read Full Review
Eric Powell has written some powerful dialogue, and his illustrations are equal to the words his character speak. He is to be commended for reaching deep into primal emotion to create this story. It is said that most plot lines involve seeking, but that horror involves loss. It is in this vein that Powell is exploring the depths of a very human soul. Read Full Review
The Goon: Occasion of Revenge #4 is an excellent issue that builds on the shocking conclusion of the previous one and results in an interesting turn of events. The multiple panels without words are highly impactful due to the beautiful artwork capturing all the relevant emotions in the different situations. This series has shown the way the suffering of others was due to the strange nature of the town, which fed off of it, and this issue ties Goon's current situation to the mystical powers fueling the town in a riveting way. Considering this issue is the conclusion to the series there is the feeling that some important things aren't answered. However, it's also clear that this isn't the end to the story so I'm very enthusiastic about getting my hands on the next series involving Goon…whenever that is. Read Full Review
