This is where we find out that the soul Kara now shares her life with was a twisted and evil soul who murdered did strange sexual things with the cult that attempted to sacrifice her for Chakat. Sharing a soul means she shares all the memories as well, and she now has to live a double life. As Linda Danvers she has Linda's mom and dad while also as Kara she has Jonathan and Martha Kent who raised her in this series.

This would make a difficult and weird experience to attempt to write in any form of media, but Peter David manages to keep the pacing good, and the story makes sense as you go on.
