"she gets into trouble, cries for help, and Superman saves the day." she hasn't acted like this for 50 years or more. Have you read any Superman comics since the 80s? Your ideal Superman is stuck in the 1940s.
I started reading this series as my first Iron Man comic maybe around March 2024. I wasn't really focused at the time because I was going back and forth with my grandfather for his eye surgery and helping him daily with his basic needs so really I kind of read these in a haze.
I read up to number 24 and lost track because I got busy with life let's say. I want to revisit and start over more
It's business as usual for dashing multi-millionaire Tony Stark and his armored alter ego, Iron Man, now that he's returned to the Marvel Universe- or is it? Tony must decide whether to wrest control of the Stark/Fujikawa Corporation from his business "partners" or seek to increase his already vast fortune in other ways. He'd better make up his min...
Oh okay so it looks like Peter David is keeping elements of Jim Aparros Aquaman, which I've never read but I just know about it because of the horrible thing that Aquaman goes through in it. In this ish it shows Aquaman chronicling his life still and recalling his time as King. His celebration has Aqualad Mera, Arthur Jr. and King Travis. I wonder how Aquaman was able to forgive a man who abandonemore
The origin of Ocean Master--once Aquaman's own brother Orm--and the intense hatred between him and his rival are revealed. Featuring guest appearances by Mera, Aqualad, Tula, and Aquababy!
Peter David in this ish adds a well written tragic heros journey to Arthur's youth. Starting off in Alaska, Arthur saves a Eskimo girl from getting eaten by a polar bear. They manage to kill it together but from the ravage bear Arthur falls unconscious after the fight. Kako the Eskimo girl take shim to her home.
Her grandfather is a man who is weary of white men because he blames them more
Young Arthur Curry battles a raging polar bear to save an Inuit woman destined to mean a great deal to the adult Aquaman. But the threat of the bear itself is child's play compared to the evil of Nuliajak, the mother of all sea-beasts!
Wow this was really well done this ish!
It starts off with a Japanese ship hunting dolphins with tuna nets and Aquaman describes the horrible experience the dolphins go through during their capture. A baby dolphin when it is born immediately jumps out of the water to breath fresh air. However the moment it is caught by a net sometimes it chooses to stop breathing essentially committing more
Left on a reef to die, the infant Aquaman uses his strange powers to survive in what proves to be his first tentative step toward becoming the true King of the Seas. Plus, the young Aquaman sees his first surface human!
So the only Aquaman comics I've read a couple years back were in the DC Showcase Volumes, so that was real silver age stuff. I watched Aquaman with Jason Mamoa tonight for the millionth time on a 4k Blu-ray though for the first time and loved it even more. I recall reading the silver age comics because of the Aquaman movie I watched on Blu-ray at that time.
Tonight I absolutely was imme more
Aquaman's first encounter with the surface world begins as the villainous Trickster commits a heist on the high seas. With the Flash Barry Allen in hot pursuit, their high-speed battle draws the attention of Aquaman, leading to the Sea King's own confrontation with the villain.
I just have no patience at this point for Waids writing. His last arc really gave me a bad impression and this isn't doing any better here. The art is nothing to write home about and feels mostly devoid of any soul. I don't even care about anyone in here. Let alone Clark himself here, he comes off as generic and has nothing interesting going for him except the overly done "struggling teenager" permore
Now that Superboy has made his Metropolis debut, a hero from the past re-emergesto take him down—one who sees him as a reckless hindrance to human progressand a threat to all! For the first time, the Boy of Steel faces off against an opponentwith powers beyond his!
If your looking for something fresh, different or interesting don't look here. This is a coming of age story done a million times over.
Unless you have absolutely no background in reading literature or comics than maybe you will enjoy this otherwise it's a walking cliche as predictable as the cycle of the day.
And why the hell didn't he use his freeze breath on the fire in more
A lot can change in a summer, especially for Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superboy. After a disastrous debut in Metropolis, the Kents are worried that the worldis not ready for their son and will do whatever it takes to protect him. Littledo they know, they’re about to send him to one of the most terrifying placeson the planet…Smallville High!
It was okay, kind of was more excited to finish it just to be done. Art is lame, feels like a corporate safe direction, I'm not into Waids style really, and after his horrible Phantom Zoners run and Xa-Du I'm not particularly excited about this.
I mean the only nice part was when Pa Kent helped Superboy focus in on the fight but otherwise the plot is pretty stupid and again the art suck more
Witness Mark Waid’s triumphant return to the title alongside rising starartist Skylar Patridge as they take Clark Kent back to his early years on KentFarm. This can’t-miss story, with ties to the present, takes the Boy of Steelto unexpected heights as he figures out what being a hero truly means. Firststop: Metropolis’s Expo of Tomorrow! Will...
Waste of space.
Arctic attack! With Superman on the ropes, Kilg%re continues his fightagainst humanity with the help of the animals of the snow desert. Couldour hero’s fortress hold the key to a victory? Find out in the thrilling finaleof Superman Superstars!
This was terrible, a big fat nothing burger here. Global warming yawn. Besides that writing is practically non-existent
Superman Superstars concludes with an unforgettable two-part story written by Poison Ivy's G. Willow Wilson and drawn by fan-favorite artist Gavin Guidry (Superman '78). Knowing he needs a break from the expectations and pressures of Metropolis, Lois sends Clark to the arctic to investigate a new technology that promises to halt global warming. But...
I would give this a higher score but the Forevers was a joke like the ish could have gone without them and just have Manheim selling telemeres to random rich people seeking mortality because the whole Forevers fight and panels were just gid awful and silly.
But I'm keeping a decently high score because otherwise the rest of the story was really good for me. We find out that Paul was in more
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH! Superman is on the verge of discovering who's been luring reformed villains back to a life of crime, but the question remains--why? When he tries to convince Scorch to help him, they're ambushed by a mysterious organization that holds the answers he's searching for. Is Superman ready to face the truth?
I enjoyed this ish as much as 1082. I like the dialogue and feel like the panels flow nice. It's not a complicated story but it's good and I like the side characters like Scorch too. And Manheim being the culprit behind all of this buying off Paul and others to steal there "telemeres" which are used to make others stay young and live longer. The only catch is those who lose these telemeres lose thmore
METROPOLIS IN THE CROSSHAIRS OF A VILLAINOUS CONSPIRACY! The second chapter of this tale of truth and hope! As Clark Kent digs into what drove Major Disaster back to crime, he begins to uncover a greater conspiracy involving previously reformed villains. But when the noble reporter gets too close to the truth, he finds himself under attack? Now, on...
The sole saving grace of Action Comics #1028 is that it exists outside the current "All In" disaster, sparing readers from that incoherent mess of a storyline. Unfortunately, any relief is short-lived, as this issue replaces one set of problems with another, offering up a misguided attempt to "modernize" Superman's world in ways that completely alienate long-time fans.
The central issue more
"Superman Superstars" continues with an unforgettable tale about Superman's greatest gift to the world...hope. Major Disaster returns to Metropolis and his old ways much to the dismay of the Man of Steel. Can his alter ego Clark Kent discover the reason behind this villain's decline back into the world of crime?
No, but not being able to act without asking her her opinion does. At one point in the book Superman gives up his role in a conversation so that Lois can speak and assume the role of main protagonist. I think I've made my points pretty clear that the writer has turned the Superman book into an avenue for him to deliver "The message" that takes over from telling a story that is good or that makes sense. As for sales see Marie Javins being empowered as Editor in Chief...
Compared to the previous Waid crap run this wasn't so bad for me, but as usual love your points and saving for good reference
Wow an Action Comic that was actually pretty solid, not perfect but you know after those last 10 or so trash issues this deserves a 9 just for changing the direction.
What I really appreciate about this issue was it's focus on Clark Kent this time around. We've had a lot of Superman the last few arcs so it's refreshing to see Clark going around doing some old fashioned journalism. The more

Is it finally over this arc? So rushed and lackluster all around.
Oh wow Xaa-Du was really Martian Manhunter fooling the Zoners in the end. What is this Scooby-Doo?
IT'S ALL LED TO THIS! As the final battle between Aethyr's forces and the heroes of Earth reaches its climax, the Phantom Zone is changed forever...altered from the ground up and ready for new prisoners. But who of the super family will be amongst them? It's the shocking finale to the Action Comics weekly, and you're going to have to read it to bel...
And now it's back to total garbage. The only purpose this ish served was having Xa-Du return from the pit Aethyr threw him into. Otherwise it was a compilation of meaningless hunting and capturing of generic uninteresting Zoners.
This is really creatively bankrupt to say the least...
BRAWL OF THE SUPER-MEN! As the Phantom Zone prisoners rain down upon our heroes, only the House of El stands in their way...and Superman will not go down without a fight! It's the brawl to end all super-brawls in this penultimate chapter of the Action Comics weekly! Plus, Supergirl makes a final appeal with hopes of saving the universe.
Can we have a massive kill off of characters soon? Kill the entire Super family with the only one who survives is Conner. Boom there is your #1100 issue ending. Kill them all and focus back on Superman. Put all the supporting characters back where they belong in supporting roles. (Ex: Lois, Jimmy, Perry White) Make Action Comics a Superman book again. No one cares about these characters. Tmore
PRISON BREAK! In a last-ditch attempt to save both the Earth and the Phantom Zone from certain annihilation, Superman has been knocked for a loop and is only just now regaining consciousness. But what's that in the distance? The tiny silhouettes of every single Phantom Zone prisoner freed and heading straight for him? Uh oh... Plus, the true villai...
Reluctant to give this a better score than 2 that I've given previous issues but this was less frustrating and annoying to read through. Maybe it's the art it's too simple and too cartoon but I like the simplicity. The colors pop out real nice and the simple line work makes reading the rather horrible story more bearable.
But this whole Phantom Zone breakout feels unoriginal, rushed, a more

What a ride, that was like watching Batman v Superman when they had to go up against Doomsday except in this it was a Super Skrull against Ms. Marvel.
Ms. Marvel discovers the Skrulls' dark secret hidden away within Riker's Island. And is there something even worse than the armies already rampaging across the Earth?
Bro if I could give this an 11/10 I would! Adriana Melo has been hitting home run after home run with these war issues! The carnage, the destruction it's very dynamic in this and the flow of reading is mesmerizing and enticing panel by panel. Last ish and this ish Melo conjures up some really iconic moments for Ms. Marvel that look like they should be in film. As I'm reading this ish I'm thinking more
SECRET INVASION tie-in! Intergalactic war comes to the streets of Manhattan! As Ms. Marvel stands alone before the Skrull invasion, she must find the warrior within and stop an army of invincible killers!
So I'm not reading the Secret War comics while reading this but I know the overall jist of Secret War anyway mostly from watching The Avengers Assemble Cartoon the 2010 version. I already know about the skrulls using all the different powers of the superheroes so it's no big deal that I didn't read the main event. I'm here for Ms. Marvel and maybe one day I will read Civil War and Secret War. more
The SECRET INVASION is here and the Battle for Manhattan has begun. Earth's heroes have been scattered, New York City is under siege and only Ms. Marvel is left to stand up for humanity.
Damn this series is not afraid to shed blood wow!
So the captured Skrull doesn't tell the team much except for the fact that William has been captured by AIM and is in Orlando. The team tries to locate him and finds a false lead. Carol gets pissed off that she can't find Will and goes off on the female Skrull captive. Throwing her around and threatening her, the Skrull laughs at Carol' more
There is a Skrull in Lightning Storm's midst. There is a secret truth to the life of Ms. Marvel's lover, William Wagner. And something happens between Ms. Marvel and Wonder Man that can never be undone.
Nice so we quickly have the two Ms. Marvels face off and prove which one is real. We also find out I was correct that William is a Kree and is not dead. The Skrull disguised as Ms. Marvel shape shifted into the dead William previous ish. He got away. But why did he run if he is a Kree why didn't he fight?
We also find out here the Agent Sum goes all the way back to ancient China 1300s a more
With S.H.I.E.L.D. convinced she's a Skrull impostor, Ms. Marvel must fight for her identity and her life against her very own Lightning Strike Force! But when the Force has a Ms. Marvel of their own, even Carol can't be sure she's Carol anymore!
Love it but I will miss Lopresti's art 🎨 nonetheless Melo is good to. This ish has a cool throwback to an older Captain Marvel or Ms. Marvel comic that shows Carol when she worked at NASA with Captain Marvel. A skrull attempted to kidnap him and Carol killed the Skrull and saved Marvel. It turns out that Skrull she killed has a son in disguise as the X-Men Colossus doing some seedy things with more
Is Ms. Marvel on the front lines of the SECRET INVASION...or is she part of the invasion?!
Critics gave this a 7 oh my God even back then these "critics" were snorting something unnatural... Okay where to start because this ish has to be by far the best of the best in this run in terms of action, pacing and overall execution...
Carol with her Binary powers goes after the Brood Queen and throws her down onto the island. Cru shoots the Queen in the skull and show sup in her ori more
On Monster Island, surrounded by thousands of Brood, Carol Danvers regains her long lost Binary abilities, but the price she pays for her old powers may be her life!
I have to stop using the word epic for each Ms. Marvel issue for the sake of redundancy so I will use a proper synonym such as marvellous (pun intended).
No but seriously, in this ish we get a bit more backstory which helps me because I never read any of the older comics with Ms. Marvel. So the Brood Queen was responsible for doing experiments on Carol and turning her into Binary I'm p more
Carol Danvers is stranded and powerless on Monster Island, surrounded by a nest full of Brood, and trying desperately to survive. When the Lightning Storm team comes to her rescue, things only get worse!
The pacing here is top class, I was reading horrible comics these past couple of days like the new Wonder Woman and some of the latest Action comics and it was a challenge just to get through those. This ish and last were just pure pleasure.
Simon, Sum, Machine Man, Anya and Sleepwalker figured out how to track Carol whose on Monster island which is in the Bermuda triangle.

The Brood return! Carol Danvers is alone and powerless on Monster Island, surrounded by creatures that want her blood!
This was epic, I enjoyed the Puppet Master Arc but that was really just a nice break and now we're getting to the real meat here baby. This was a pretty epic ish with plenty of subplots still going strong.
So Cru turned out to not be the enemy of earth that we were led to believe early on in the series. Instead Cru is the last of her species that was completely wiped out by the Brood. more
This is it, one of the biggest mysteries of Ms. Marvel's life is revealed!
The art improved marginally, story is still dumb.
Two worlds in peril; only one can be saved. Teaming with his fellow Justice Leaguer, Mr. Terrific, to defend against Aethyr's deadly machinations, the Man of Steel is left on the defensive and out of options. Superman must choose which realm to save: Earth or the Phantom Zone! Plus, Supergirl falls under the spell of Koncept!
Action Comics #1077 is, regrettably, a perfect example of how a story can promise grandeur yet deliver nothing of substance. The issue postures as though it has something significant to say, yet it leaves readers with what can only be described as a "Big Nothing Burger"—a hollow and unsatisfying narrative experience. Its flaws are manifold, but the most glaring offense is the utterly wasteful B-more
DEATH TO THE PHANTOM ZONE! Superman and Mon-El are reunited at last, but are our heroes too late to stop the impossible threat of Aethyr?! The mad wizard has breached the realm and begun decimating planet Earth...the Super-Family and the Justice League are holding on as best they can, but this sounds like a job for Superman! Plus, can Kara put her ...
