No doubt.
Good premier issue. Pretty formulaic for an X-Man solo book, but it was executed well. Good art and writing. Psylocke is one of the more layered characters with quite a past. Hoping for more than a surface level story, we'll see.
SHE WAS MADE FOR VIOLENCE! Trained to be an assassin since birth, Kwannon chose to be an X-Man. But there are still some jobs too dirty for the X-Men. And some paths have to be walked alone. When the mission is brutal, Psylocke unsheathes her blades to punish those who prey on mutants. Exploding out of the pages of X-MEN, Alyssa Wong and Vincenzo C...
I want to like this so much more than I do. The writing is awful, the egg yolk scene was the cringiest thing I've read in a comic in a long time. The art is mediocre. I'm sticking with it because I'm hoping it improves, and I like the general direction this reboot has gone, but it just isn't executed well on any level. I wish there was a different creative team on it.
While trying to come to terms with the power of the Witchblade and its control over her, Detective Sara Pezzini delves deeper into the supernatural forces around her and the mystery behind the cover-up that destroyed her father. The path leads her and her partner into a life-or-death battle where the past and present collide!
More of the same, but that's not a bad thing. The "twist" at the end was moderately interesting. Good art and writing, it's a solid book.
"Happy End Game," Part Two of Five. Happy leads the army of dead Gerts from Hell, through the Inferno and into Fairyland. Gert needs allies, so the King summons a legend from Kansas who's pretty familiar with fighting off WICKED forces! Who could it be? Maybe someone who's into glittery footwear? Yellow Bricks? Any guesses?
I thought overall this was a good tie-in series, but this issue annoyed me a little. The art was good, but the dialog (and especially Spidey's quipping) was cringy and annoying and the story didn't really land will, in my opinion. Not a bad book, but not as good as the previous ones. Didn't stick the landing.
POWER OR RESPONSIBILTY?
Peter Parker must make a choice - power or responsibility? What is more important? When Mary Jane's life stands on one side and the threat from the symbiote he brought to Earth stands on the other...what will he choose?

I enjoyed this much more than I expected. Of the three Underworld titles I've read so far, this was definitely my favorite. The hard boiled detective story in a futuristic alternate history setting will never not be a great foundation for a story, in my opinion. The art was solid and the writing was quite good. The little bits of humor worked for me too. This goes on my pull list for sure.
In Exit City, there's a thin line between good and evil, and Detectives McCormick and Miller are about to find out the hard way. When they come to the scene of a brutal accident, it becomes clear that the Major Crimes division was called in for a reason. With minimal evidence, McCormick and Miller must work together through a web of seedy criminals...
"No Light Beyond," Part 1 (of 4). The blockbuster hit series returns with the first issue of the biggest chapter yet! Pigeon's quest for revenge escalates with terrible ramifications, Soluna learns a secret that leads her to the hardest choice of her life, and The Foreman's new mission leads to a clash of gods in this explosive, action-packed first...
Solid story, good writing and good art. I'm not entirely knowledgeable about the character, but this book did a good job of describing her personality and background enough for me to catch up with dragging the pace down or anything like that. I'll definitely be reading this whole run.
Hold on to your seats, clutch your pearls, and rejoice in celebration because Cassandra Cain is taking center stage in her first solo Batgirl series in nearly two decades! When a deadly group of assassins shows up to kill Cassandra, Lady Shiva comes to the rescue, and they must put their complicated past aside and work together as mother and daught...
All three of the Absolute #1s were 10s. This told a gritty story of class oppression and Superman's origin takes a much more depressing route this time. The art was fantastic and the writing was great. I don't think I could pick which of the three #1s I liked the most, they were all fantastic in their own ways, which is impressive to me because as characters and for duration of their histories more
SUPERSTARS JASON AARON AND RAFA SANDOVAL UNLEASH A SHOCKING NEW TAKE ON THE LAST SON OF KRYPTON! Without the fortress...without the family...without a home...what's left is the Absolute Man of Steel!
Very fun first issue. The art was solid and the writing was great. It really painted the world in a descriptive way that both defines the world and also makes me want to know more. The characters are interesting and well written as well. Very excited about the future of this book.
From the Eisner award-winning creators who brought you Captain Marvel, Bitch Planet, and Wonder Woman: Historia comes this genre-busting, apocalyptic odyssey about a group of metal kids who face a medley of bizarre foes and encounters in Portland, Oregon during a worldwide pandemic. Riley is a teen that sketches o...
Very good issue, very dramatic. The cover advertises a death, but the interior doesn't focus on it much. It just sort of happens on one page then they move on. That's my only minor complaint, everything else was very well done. The team's fracturing is understandable and organic, doesn't feel forced. Great art as usual and good writing too, I liked it a lot.
A DEATH ON THE TEAM?!
Attacked from all sides, with a team member's DEATH in the offing, and struggling to accomplish their mission, X-Force fights to seal the latest and worst Fracture Node threatening the Earth. Can X-Force pull through, or will they fracture and doom the world? The most surprising X-book of the season is just heating u...
This issue was ok, but I didn't like it as much as the previous three. The "I lied to you/left you because anyone that gets close to me ends up dying" trope is pretty played out and nothing about this time makes it worthwhile. Not a bad issue per se, but not up to par with the rest of the current run of X-books.
BENEATH THE SURFACE!
Havok and the team race to recover the crew of a subterranean expedition beneath Death Valley! But who or what is waiting beneath the desert sands? And what does all of this have to do with Cecilia Reyes?!

It was an ok standalone issue, I always appreciate Black Panther stories, but this one just didn't hit with me as much as usual. I'm ready to get back to the main Avengers story.
BLACK PANTHER: WAR JOURNAL! FREE THE PRISONERS!

I didn't go into this with very high expectations but I was very pleasantly surprised. The art is solid and the writing is good, but the overall story and plot are very interesting. The "Hour of the Wolf" being the one hour they can operate is an interesting premise and I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out. This issue hooked me, for sure.
When Owen Blackwood is called across time to a seemingly normal home to destroy a haunted painting, it didn't feel like anything out of the ordinary to this agent of Wolvenheart. Upon arrival, however, Owen finds himself trapped in the very painting he was called to destroy. With only a one hour window of time in which to operate, will Owen be able...
Interesting story that has a lot of potential. It's not entirely unique or original, but not over done either. The art is good, the writing is solid. I'll keep up with this for now, it could be a sleeper good series.
Emmeline Heron is the daughter of traitors, but even she cannot be denied entrance to the Carlyle School for Kings. For thousands of years, the academy has opened its doors to the best and brightest young people in the Kingdom. There, they are trained in matters of heart, strength, and mind, and the one who is deemed most exceptional will be crowne...
Good issue with a solid ending that seemed to wrap up just a little too quickly. The whole issue seemed just a little too rushed. But still, a very good issue and a very interesting story.
Armed with knowledge (and weaponry), our young survivors must fight for freedom as everything comes to a head in this jam-packed arc finale!
Great follow-up to issue 1. Now that the characters are established, this issue focuses on presenting the problem they must overcome. The characters are all relatable, believable and enjoyable. There was an interesting twist with Pugg's girlfriend (her name escapes me at the moment). Pugg's transformation was fun. The story as a whole so far has a slight Mars Attacks meets Red Dawn vibe. I lmore
Our survivors venture through what was once their town looking for a beacon of hope. But they soon realize that some beacons aren't seen, but heard.
Excellent book, just picked up the first three issues after not having heard about it before a few days ago. #1 did a good job introducing the characters, showing us who they are and why they are, and then flipping their world upside down. I look forward to finishing this one.
A manga-influenced teen adventure set in the strange post-apocalyptic America... of 1955. From the team behind the seminal Vertigo series American Vampire!

"But the world doesn't wait for us to ask before it inflicts horrors upon us. All we can do is spite it by surviving or die. What will it be, Cyclops?"
Sure did pick a day to drop that line.

What does the town of Merle, Alaska owe the X-Men? Where did the defunct Sentinel looming over the town come from? And more importantly, what was it after?

Another impeccable issue of this run. Incredible writing and plot, the art was only ok, but the story more than made up for it. The conversation between Magneto and Cyclops was absolute peak X-Men. Can't wait to see where this business with the young girl goes and why she doesn't show up on the scanners.

Very intriguing story, with a nice (but not 100% shocking or original) twist at the end. The art was quite good, the writing was great and I love the plot. This one is definitely going on my pull list.
JAMIE McKELVIE IS BACK WITH HIS FIRST SOLO CREATOR-OWNED PROJECT IN OVER A DECADE!
London, 1900. The capital hums with the energy of the new era, but something darker lurks beneath the surface. A monstrous figure stalks the city's criminal underworld at night, leaving a trail of bloody corpses in its wake. Rumors about the mysterious kille...
Very well written, the story was a bit slow and the art didn't really work for me, but it was a good book. I'd love to see a longer story with Ivy and Swampy, something involving the Parliament of Trees would be cool. But the plot for this story worked as a one-shot. It did leave me wanting more information about the girl in the woods, I forget her name. I suppose she wasn't the point of the smore
There is something wrong with the trees. A presence screaming out in pain--tearing, gnashing, and gnawing through the very fabric of the Green--calling out for blood. In its wake, a trail of viscera and carnage is left--leading to a mystery that the Parliament of Trees has conscripted Poison Ivy and Swamp Thing to solve. Can the Verdant Villainess ...
Good book. It's not the cleanest or most efficient storytelling, but it's still a great story. The art was pretty good and the writing was great. I feel like I'd enjoy it much more in trade format when it's done, but I'll keep reading it monthly then probably reread it as a finished product in about eight months heh.

Now, Loeb returns to the world of The Long Halloween ...
This was pretty incomprehensible. The idea seems solid, but the execution was just all over the place. I didn't care for it.
DEADPOOL SMASH - OR SMASHED?!

The main story was well written, well drawn (he keeps this up, JRJR is going to convert me into a minor fan, after decades of HATING his art) and a good ending to the run. Tombstone getting off was a frustrating, but expected, outcome that serves the purposes of the story well. Usually when I grab a thick book like this one, I know I'm not going to like most of what happens after the main story more

Well written issue, but the art was pretty mid. I'm enjoying these looks at different phases of Namor's life. The jumping around can be a little confusing at times, but not to the point that it's a problem. I particularly enjoyed the story of Namor's sympathy for the fishermen. The weakest part was definitely the part with the coral man also trying to become the king, but it wasn't bad.
War has engulfed the undersea realms, from the ruins of Old Atlantis to the sunken forests of the Seaweed Men. While in the mysterious depths of the Secret Seas, Namor's vicious past comes back to haunt him.

This issue goes back and rushes through a bunch of backstory and history explaining the origin of the toon world. It got a little preachy, but not too bad. Excellent use of the now-available-for-public-use Steamboat Willie and references to the various old Disney movies, heh. The most interesting part was the story of Oliver's mother. Great writing and art, this book is a gem.
Dive into the cartoonist's desk for a look back at the origins of the cartoon world (and its connection to the real world), in this lore-expanding issue of prehistoric and biblical proportions!
Beyond steamboats and cartoon dinosaurs lies the First in her castle, but what is her place in all of this? What is Olivers's?
For a parody comic, it's pretty well done. The art fits the tone perfectly and the writing is humorous. It's not the most efficient writing or plotting, but it's not bad. I'm ready for this to wrap up, though.
Spawny has fallen into the trap of his new Greatest Enemy! His death seems inevitable. If only there were someone to save him... like his mom!
While it's a little difficult to follow at times, the story and art are next level. I still struggle to believe that Peach Momoko will stay with this long enough to give it a proper run, feels like this story should last at least a couple years, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
WHO ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE ATOM?
What are mutants? Where do they come from? And how has the Maker's Council been keeping them under control? All these dark questions and more start to unravel as our heroes investigate a murder that, for some reason, the authorities keep covering up! And Shadow King advances his sinister plots!

This is exactly how tie-in mini series should be done. Taking place in the outskirts of the main event, this is a very small scale story that shows how people other than the main players are affected. The art and writing is fantastic and the "Night of the Living Dead" vibe works great here. It did a great job humanizing Shocker as well, telling the story from his perspective and giving us a glimore
