Draculina's secret origin begins in an ancient tower more than four centuries ago where her mother Lilith, desperate to free her people from ruthless oppressors, made a deal with the demon Belial to bear his children. Now, as Katie-Draculina's human alter-ego-lays dying, the mystery of Draculina's two lives is revealed as two sides of the same woman struggle for control. Meanwhile Belial, now retired from the demon business, has been alerted to Draculina's presence in this prime reality, and seeks to regain control over his rebellious stepchild.
DRACULINA #2 is an interesting and informative issue that fills in the blanks about Draculinas history and her complicated status right now. Despite one or two speed bumps with time jumps, the general story flows and sets up why Draculina is such a dangerous character. This second issue sorts of restarts the main story, after last issues mainly introduction of sorts, the thrust of the arc is moving forward. Piest has a huge following, I am reading Vampirella Unholy. It will be interesting to see if Priest's style change to accommodate his very different leading ladies. Read Full Review
