Our hero's visit home turns violent, and everyone loses something- Hughie a friend, Tupper his sense of humor, and Big Bobby something even more vital. Hughie finally comes to terms with his home and his past, but not before one last secret is revealed: his own.
Well, he finally takes the first step towards doing the right thing, and it gives me hope that when he returns to the team, Butcher's worst may have as much effect on him as he or the mysterious Mallory (alluded to in this story very intriguingly) have ever had on Butcher. Which is to say, by joining the Boys, Hughie's become something more than a wronged victim seeking vengeance. He's actually become an adult, and it's wonderful to read about. Read Full Review
It is still difficult to reconcile this title to what is happening over in "The Boys." Just as the parent title hits a great stride, its little spin-off shows how bad it can all be. Maybe that's Ennis' plan, make us appreciate the sweet because (if you've stuck with this one for the full six) you've just had a gutful of the sour. This marks this series as 0 for 2 with minis, here's hoping the Butcher one will redeem them both. Read Full Review
When the other mini series, Herogasm, started I disliked it but eventually saw that the story was solid by the end I was enjoying the read. However, this mini series never came together for me. I may have disliked this issue most of all. This is certainly a story to miss if you have the option. It's rare I dislike a Garth Ennis book but I have faith that the main series won't skip a beat as a result of this poor issue and mini series. Read Full Review
