    The Shadow Annual #1 is a combination of a number of things fitting perfectly together. A great character, well written and drawn, in an exciting and thrilling adventure. Mystery, combined with pulp, gothic suspense. And, that haunting laugh at the end of every dark alley. Read Full Review

    The story is cross cut with that of the ghosts so while this investigation is going on we're mostly just waiting for the Shadow to catch up to the information that we've already figured out. If it doesn't sound exciting it's because it isn't and you'll be much better served just jumping on board with the ongoing series, which is a lot more interesting. Read Full Review

    Shadow fans are better off leaving this one on the rack. Five bucks for inconsistent art and snooze-worthy storytelling isn't a great value and would be better spent on the next issue of the series proper. Read Full Review

    "The Shadow" Annual #1 doesn't live up to the rest of the series from Dynamite. Fortunately, it is of no consequence to the current plot, and we can look forward to Ennis and Campbell finishing their run on the series in issue #6. Read Full Review
