    The Ranger plies his trade, and Cavendish's enforcer works in his own gruesome fashion. He finds himself partaking the hospitality of Dan Reid's wife, unaware that she and her son are doomed. As well, the reader knows this to imbue the scene with even more chilling menace. We hope that this evil man will spare this beautiful, poised, civil woman who unwittingly invites death into her home, but we know he will not spare her, or Reid's son.
