A fun issue as Sonja takes on a large problem for the right price. The story has several good laughs for the dialogue from the unintentional victim and the action is massive. This is a good entry issue for fans looking to try Red Sonja. Read Full Review

It's an interesting story Chu and Burnham tell in this issue and it elevated the character in my opinion. Read Full Review

Red Sonja #22 is an enjoyable self-contained adventure that provides classic fantasy action and a few cleverly concealed philosophical questions to ponder. The artwork and color succeed in bringing to life this particular adventure. The posing, framing and pacing of the story are excellently done balancing fantasy action and exposition. This was a very good issue that I would recommend to anyone who is a fond of the genre. Read Full Review

Pretty good, self-contained tale with some interesting ideas. Most of the art is excellent but Jonathan Lau's use of his own design for Sonja and her sword wasn't a great decision IMO

While I've been a big fan of Chu's work on the title, the message of this issue is, in my opinion, TERRIBLE! Sonja convinces a troll to abandon his own choice to try and lead a better life, and instead just be what's always expected of him. The rationalization given here that people have to act according to their nature flies in face of free will and self determination, "Dont try to improve yourself - it's hard and you should just do whatever is easy and makes you immediately happy." In the end the troll gives up so a bunch of lazy villagers don't have to solve their own problems, and Sonja leaves feeling smug. Ms Chu, what the hell were you thinking?
