The Comic Book Spot - beastfire

Smile: For The Camera #2 continues this beautifully-rendered, yet horrific, tale in a spectacular way. There's plenty of creepiness to be found, both realistically and supernaturally. Plus, the Smile Entity shows up a few more times, and as a fan of this franchise in general, it’s always a joy to see them. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

Smile for the Camera continues to feel like an impressive spiritual successor to Doug Wagner’s clever fashion horror series I Was a Fashion School Serial Killer. There is a public fascination with the concept of fashion and the fashion industry. It's really very compelling backdrop for horror. Fashion-based horror has a great deal of potential that continues to be hugely appealing in this series. An overall rhythm has emerged at the end of the second issue, which might ultimately lead towards a “final girl”-style situation by the end of the series, but there's really no reason why it has to end, does it? May and company could just keep introducing new characters as needed. The first two have been so fun. And even if characters keep dropping out once at the end of every issue, it's hard to imagine the series is getting dull or repetitious. Read Full Review

Smile: For the Camera #2 builds off of the first issue well adding some more sub plots and disturbing behaviors in this world. This issue proves that this series will be taking bigger swings and not just sticking to the source material and I for one find this refreshing. This is a book and series for any fan of the genre and should be on the top of your list to grab at the shop this week and add to your Pull List! Read Full Review

If I didn’t say it before, I’ll say it now, “Smile: For The Camera” more than proves that Hannah Rose May needs to be considered as one of the greats in horror comics. Issue #2 keeps up the energy left from the start and doesn’t hold back. She’s taking chances, and the art & colors of Puglia and Kelly follow through. This run so far is an absolute must read for any horror enthusiast. Read Full Review
