In 1988 the President sends Youngblood to Kuwait to stop an Iraqi invasion of the country. During the mission Battlestone accidentally kills his teammate Gamble leading to a fight with Diehard. Diehard manages to defeat Battlestone and the team returns to the United States where Battlestone is put on trial. The court decides to strip Battlestone of his rank and force him to return to a normal civilian life. Shaft is then appointed as the new leader of Youngblood.
