Aug 05, 2026This story starts out with a sense of normalcy and romance, but very quickly, readers will suspect something is up with Yoji, and the security will be gone. There are a few moments that are unsettling that get under the skin, and Hagiwara-sensei chips away at Yuki's reality along with the reader. The characters are intriguing, and it's difficult to trust anyone in this story. Hagiwara even erodes the narrative voice, leaving the reader on unsure footing at the end of the volume. This disconcerting state is a unique experience but a great achievement for a mystery story. Readers who like dark thrillers with "kichidere" characters may enjoy this book. Read Full Review
