Where the tension and action of Under the Influence shines is in its carefully curated dialog. The whole book is full of layered conversations that feel as manufactured and polished as the biggest influencer's aspirational posts about coffee or pampas grass. I hate this book… and I love it. UNDER THE INFLUENCE #2 escalates Agent Coles risk of exposure and opens the door for a deadly development in the Hot Dog Partys evolution. Rahals script sandwiches a dry explanation of Influencer culture between a wow beginning and a wow ending, but the middle drags a bit.
