Comic Vine - Mat 'Inferiorego' Elfring Nov 27, 2013

Cataclysm is firing on all cylinders. It's an event of epic proportions where the tie ins are just as good as the main story, which is normally completely unheard of in comic books. There's a lot to love in this X-Men tie-in. What it does really well is shows the reader what's happening to the team on their terms. They're not being forced into where all the action is happening in the main story. They have their own problems to deal with, and here, it's the Gah Lak Tus swarm. Ultimate fans should really be reading this. Marvel fans, in general, should be reading this. Overall, I highly recommend this issue. Read Full Review

Geeked Out Nation - Jideobi Odunze Nov 27, 2013

Overall this is a great introduction for the X-Men as Cataclysm begins. A fight that probably is not their own they find themselves stuck in the middle. The only part of this story that might throw you off is how they end up where they are by the end of the issue. It does now connect the events unfolding now to Hunger, yet also leaves you with a lot of questions. Hopefully the next issue brings more clarity to their new situation, but that's not to say that this wasn't exciting as they fight for their lives against the Gah Lak Tus swarm. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Nov 29, 2013

This is a quick, but decisive read, as Fialkov continues to build on the adventure he started. With four "Cataclysm" books on the table now, the offerings from Fialkov carry more gravity and have done a more complete job snatching my interest. Galactus may not be popping characters into his mouth like dinner mints yet, but there is no doubt that Fialkov is treating the behemoth as every bit the threat Stan Lee and Jack Kirby dreamed him up to be. "Cataclysm: Ultimate X-Men" #1 is a wonderful offering in the growing event set to completely change the Ultimate Universe. Read Full Review
