This comic was one of a few comic series that were published in my country before the comics became really popular there and I remember how I saw it and was like "OH WOW! THERE'S LOTS OF HEROES AND THEY WILL FIGHT! COOL!". But even though I was teen back then, I still got kinda disappointed. Most of the battles were random and boring or just took only a single frame, while I expected to see the battles in a more detailed way. Now reading it in English, I think it feels like early nineties, not 1999. I don't know why, I think Claremont had more decent works. The art is okay, though, but that's it. Just okay.
