  The New Defenders believe that they are fighting the New Mutants until Moondragon puts an end to the illusion. They are inside the Mind Ripper which the Secret Empire is attempting to use to brainwash them. Professor Power plans to launch a satellite that will increase the hatred between the USA & USSR thus leading to a nuclear war. The Secret Empire will emerge from it in control of the world. Seraph, a Soviet agent, frees Cloud from her cell, & they go to help the Defenders. Using Gargoyle's powers, Moondragon frees the team from the Mind Ripper. They are attacked by robots who they overcome this time. The team arrives at the rocket base to attempt to stop the launch & meet opposition from Mad Dog & Mutant Force. Moondragon & Valk yrie are caught on the rocket when it launches while trying to disable it. (Cover date: March, 1984) more
