The first story is about some Hulk from an Age of Apocalypse 2-issue limited series where Gwen Stacy was a strong woman even before all the Spider-Gwen and Gwen-verse crap. Well... I guess the only way you could even know about that series is if you went through the Age of Apocalypse comic series marathon. But I did no such thing. Either way, the story was okay. Readable at least. The art is fine. But looks like the only point of this was to change that Hulk's color of that universe from grey to green. I'll leave it to experts to judge if it makes sense for that universe or not really.
The mangaverse Hulk story is a total nonsense and was clearly written by a first grader (or a man with a really... unique sense of humour), but I think it wasn't bad in the context of this book. You see, Mangaverse Hulk is another Hulk I know nothing about. And this story was pretty lightweight, that's what all the stories in this mini-series should be like in my opinion. Better written, of course, but as such lightweight as this one. The art was awesome, by the way, really enjoyed it, but looks like this artist is a very rare guest in Marvel comics...
And finally, a Hulk I knew! Hulk 1602. Well... I liked Banner in the original book, even though he was nothing like the original character, he was still good in the book. But then... Let's say, other 1602 books weren't as much 1602 as I'd wanted them to be. And 1602 Hulk's story wasn't my favourite Hulk story, of course. But, here we have 1602 Hulk becoming an emperor of China after defeating 1602 Fin Fang Foom, who of course wasn't called Fin Fang Foom in the book, but who cares... Well... If someone asks you about ruined concepts in comics - tell them about Marvel 1602. At least the art is fine here... And thanks it was just a short story or I would just be bored.
And the last story was CLEARLY the best one in this mini-series. First of all, it's about Hulk from Days of Future Past and as I remember, a little was known about Hulk from that universe, if anything at all.. And that's a good thing, I wish this mini had more stories like this. For some reason, it finds success in delivering a hearthwarming story in such a limited number of pages. The art was great as well.
Hm, looks like this time all the stories had solid artwork and even though most of them are pretty pointless, the last one, at least, was fine. This issue deserves a passable rating, for sure. And I'm glad that's it for the Broken Worlds. more
