There is a Skrull in Lightning Storm's midst. There is a secret truth to the life of Ms. Marvel's lover, William Wagner. And something happens between Ms. Marvel and Wonder Man that can never be undone.
As Ms. Marvel heads into a proper Secret Invasion tie-in (as opposed to the "Secret Invasion: Infiltration" tie-in the last three issues have been -- geez, get your banners straight!), one suspects the focus will be superheroics, where the book excels. The art team has changed yet again with this issue, giving it an uneven feel. But fill-in artist, Andre Coelho does a very nice job portraying action and emotional elements. Despite the constant rotation of art teams, one thing that's (thankfully) been consistent is the picking of artists who know how to draw a sweet looking Ms. Marvel. That definitely counts for something. All in all, this issue caps what's been a lackluster Secret Invasion tie-in with a strong finish. I'm definitely on board to see what happens next. As a whole, it's a weak ending to an otherwise entertaining storyline. Ms. Marvel is well-positioned to cherry pick the best elements of Secret Invasion and utilize them as necessary, so as long as the next few months are weighted towards superheroics instead of soap opera, it should provide a decent, Secret Invasion-inspired story that doesn't require you to read every other title. It was a pretty horrible outing to say the least and I don't really feel like coming back to this again next month. Could be the last issue of this title for me. Might come back one more time to see the conclusion to this Secret Invasion tie-in, but it's a big 'maybe' right now. Read Full Review
Damn this series is not afraid to shed blood wow!
So the captured Skrull doesn't tell the team much except for the fact that William has been captured by AIM and is in Orlando. The team tries to locate him and finds a false lead. Carol gets pissed off that she can't find Will and goes off on the female Skrull captive. Throwing her around and threatening her, the Skrull laughs at Carol's futile attempts and somehow blows herself up. There was no explanation on how or maybe this was all a set up to begin with.
The explosion takes down the Lightning Strike Ship kills most of Carol's crew except for the main cast Machine Man, Sleepwalker and Sum. Although Sleepwalker almost died because Rick was near death.
