Over the past year, I have become extremely critical of my comic purchases. My hard earned money does not go to subsidize shoddy quality. Tom Grummett is a fine artist and I'm glad to see he's lined up to be this book's regular artist as he's a reliable artist, who brings a highly detailed style, and a great eye when it comes to the delivery of visually exciting action. I mean any doubts that one could have held about his art should be instantly quashed after getting a look at this issue's big action sequence, as there's a wonderful sense of impact to these pages, from the opening shot of the invasion, to the eruption of violence from Erik as he takes down Captain Marvel. I also enjoyed the new design of Abe's armor as it has a nice sleek appearance, while still looking quite distinctive from the host of armored characters that populated the Marvel Universe. I'll also give the art credit for its work on the facial expressions, from Melissa's expression as she thinks about Hawkeye, to Erik's rage as he attacks Captain Marvel. Read Full Review

Also interesting: Niciezas baroque interest in the fringes of Marvel lore is showing again, as what an odd bunch of fish-men he dredges up for the attack. He and Busiek are lucky to have Grummett on hand, as he especially excels at differentiating crowded fields of combatants. That visual busy-ness fits well with the story, which wouldnt be the Bolts if it werent full of deceptions, doubts and lies, right from the start. Its a well crafted comic, with generally excellent art and strong writing throughout. Characterisation and dialogue are just as well done, and everything works together to make a fine comic. Its all very traditional, and theres nothing really flashy going on, but its a solid, well-crafted comic, and asking for anything more than that somehow seems churlish. If you like traditional superheroics, then youll love this. Even if you dont theres a lot to enjoy here, as the entire creative team are at the top of their game. Read Full Review
