Comic Book Resources - James Hunt Aug 6, 2012

It's fair to say this does have the feeling of a fill-in issue, but as a story it's a nice celebration of the character and his past (Who knew Uncle Ben had other maxims?). It's not especially clear why, of all the possible titles and numberings, this should be "Peter Parker: Spider-Man" #156.1 and it seems to further exemplify Marvel's approach to titling and numbering as "anything that sells, regardless of how much sense it makes" -- but that's no reason to ignore what is, ultimately, a great one-off tale by a pair of solid creators. Comic Vine - Tony 'G-Man' Guerrero Aug 1, 2012

The 'point one' stories are still coming out. Originally they were meant to be 'jumping on points' but since this series isn't actually in publication, there won't be a next issue after this. We do get a self contained story in honor of Spider-Man's fiftieth anniversary. Part of the story takes place at the old warehouse where Spider-Man confronted the burglar that killed his uncle. It's fitting and a little creepy at the same time. It's a story that doesn't contain any major villains but it does have Spider-Man doing what he does best. If this is meant to be a tribute to his character, what better way than to show him risking his life in order to save others and bring down the bad guys? Read Full Review

Unleash The Fanboy - Harrison Rawdin Aug 8, 2012

Peter Parker: Spider-Man #156.1 may not be among the worst one-and-done stories ever told, but the comic was just bland, boring and completely unnecessary. Even if you're a hardcore Spider-Man fan, I can't muster up the gumption to even half-heartedlyrecommend this title. Skip it. Read Full Review
