Summary: SS surrenders the soul gem to the Elders in exchange for Mantis & Shalla Bal. However, Mantis is lost due to the treachery of the Grandmaster. The Elders use the six soul gems to begin draining the life energy from Galactus to kill him, hence, destroying the current reality. However, SS & Nova disrupt the planetary system that they are using as their weapon, & Galactus regains his strength. He then states that he will have a "reckoning" with the Elders.
