I'm giving Waid, Rios, and Strain full credit where it's due; for the first time in a long while, I'm finding myself interested in reading about the good Doctor. Who knew a good hook for a Doctor Strange comic was staring all of us in the face? I'd love to see all three creators come back for an ongoing "Strange" comic, because at the halfway point of this mini-series, it's a blast and a half. Definitely check it out. Read Full Review
Will long-time Dr. Strange fans be satisfied with this sort of thing? Probably not; it's kind of an entry-level take on the character, although the visible struggle he's having in trying to deal with demonic threats without access to his abilities is an interesting layer to his character. But it seems that Strange's comics haven't been big sellers, so maybe a new start is what's needed, something to build a fanbase and get people interested in the character and his exotic adventures. If that's the case, this series seems to be doing its job, and hopefully it will do well enough to allow Waid and Rios to tell some of his further adventures.
