It's Alicia's birthday and the Thing has the perfect gift for her: a trip to Greece! Scratch that. Too simple. How about a trip to Ancient Greece? Yeah! Stretcho wouldn't mind Ben taking the time machine for a spin, right? And like, what could possibly go wrong?
Slott ends The Thing on an upbeat note. The funny and clever epilogue japes with time travel conventions. It's a shame Marvel canceled this series, but it really was to be expected. Big Stupid Events overshadow the engines that can. Infinite Crisis killed Manhunter. Civil War killed The Thing. At least you can still find Ben in good spirits in the continuity-free Marvel Adventures: Fantastic Four. Read Full Review
It really is a shame that this comic has hovered under the radar and is about to be cancelled. In the hands of Slott (and very professional cartoonist Kieron Dwyer, who does a very solid job on the art), this is the sort of light-hearted but intelligent fun that is increasingly hard to find from the Big Two.
