Dang this opens up with some cool-ass art! Thor throws Mjolnir past the edge of the page! This is some of the coolest art I've seen in the series so far with these backgrounds, although some character faces do kind of look like unholy abominations. I like how this comic's story ties into Infinity Crusade, adding a lot of context to a some moments we see in the first issue of that core series. It also is doing a lot to set-up Thor's next arc, a big crossover story named Blood and Thunder. That's a lot for one issue to cover but I think Ron Marz does a good job of things overall.

I also like how both ethereal women trying to manipulate Thor (Goddess and Valkyrie) have a little duel over him. It's silly and interesting, like so much of Infinity Crusade. Though it doesn't pair well with a bit of a pattern in how women are written and drawn by this creative team in the Thor series.

I wish there was a little more introspection with Goddess though. She's so powerful anyone she wants to maker her thrall pretty much accepts unquestioningly, but this issue had the potential to pose some interesting questions for Thor's character if he struggled with who to listen to between her and Valkyrie a little more. more
