    All in all, this is a pretty good start that not only stands on its own as an original and entertaining story, but also throws in references to X-Men history and characters by the handful. You don't have to know who everyone is in the mainstream continuity and you don't have to have an encyclopedic knowledge of X-Men lore in order to follow the story, but if you do, there's a little more for you to enjoy. It probably wouldn't hurt to check out X Men Noir just to find out how our characters got to where they are, but I wouldn't say it was essential. But it couldn't hurt. Read Full Review
