Every issue of Savage Sword so far has been a treat for fans of Conan and the wider world of Robert E Howard's storytelling. This issue features a long Conan tale followed by short stories about two of REH's lesser-known creations - Spear & Fang and Sailor Steve Costigan. The Spear & Fang yarn is a caveman bloodbath marking 100 years since the publication of REH's first published story. Sailor Steve Costigan sets off on a rip-roaring romp on shore leave in Singapore, illustrated by Rob De La Torre's wild inky brushwork. Doug Braithwaite's rough, vigorous drawing of the main feature is similarly well-suited to this kind of pulpish adventure. His style is perfect for Conan - detailed, but loose and alive.
