    I have to admit, Ive been somewhat disappointed with the first wave of Retroactive comics. The stories have been so-so, and the back-ups seem to have been chosen completely at random. And maybe thats why I was so happy with this book. Cary Bates returns to the JLA with a tale of Adam Strange, Earth-born protector of the planet Rann, who is engaged in a battle with frequent foe Kanjar Ro. Adam is accidentally bounced via Zeta-Beam not to his Earth, but to the alternate world of Earth-Prime, where the DC Comics heroes are fictional characters. The JLA rushes to his rescue in a story thats wonderfully entertaining. This is what I was hoping for in the Retroactive books, a real love letter to the comics of the period. The story is just the sort of thing you would have expected at the time, and the enthusiasm the Flash shows for going back to Earth-Prime and palling around with Julius Schwartz again is worth the price all on its own.
