Hell of a Job is a welcome departure from what we expect in an adventurous comic book, presenting a relatable heroine whose work life seems too much like our own, and yet the surprising turn which she uncovers makes enthralled readers glad they do not have to suffer the horrendous misfortunes the truth uncovers, allowing us to live vicariously through her whimsical misery, all as we are profoundly amused by the trials she must undergo to escape from ruinous downfall. Yet as we become ever more engendered by Addams' conflicted outlook over her tragic workplace, it is the immersive illustrations with wondrous expressions and a rich array of colors that cause an involved audience to voluntarily dive into this problematic rabbit hole, the fantastic artistic synergy drawing us ever deeper into a fiendish landscape, with the struggles of doomed humans hanging in the balance, and this befuddled office worker fighting for us all.
