Oct 04, 2013Let's not forget Hunter's awesome work withNot So Super. It's difficult to put a finger on the reminiscences of Hunter's art, but it's equally simplistic and fun, while complexly suggestive of action and populated with nuanced references and clues that visually help develop characters beyond Nyemb's script. Hunter is a master of tone and expression, especially evident in the interactions between Dan and his coworkers, and he's able to express a range of emotions outside of an artistic style grounded in reflective realism. Following The Nerd - Jake Tanner
Oct 25, 2013Nyemb has again impressed me with his fresh brand of storytelling. Comics have been around for decades and the genres he writes in have been around nearly since the beginning. It's hard enough to create a new superhero book, but it's nearly impossible to cut a new niche into the genre. While I wouldn't call this a 'superhero' book, Jacques has managed to accomplish the rare feat of telling a totally original, very entertaining story. I think the best part about the whole thing is I would feel comfortable recommending this to a reader of almost any age!The art is absolutely fantastic in Not So Super. I've seen numerous indie books 'phone it in' in the art department, but Joe Hunter hit this one out of the park. It's a lot of fun to see his take on the random assortment of powers Daniel is 'blessed' with and I can't wait to see more of his work!As with Nyemb's other project, This Bites, Not So Super is a 'pay what you want' book.
