    Because of its close connection to Chabon's novel, potential readers may question whether they have the proper background to enjoy the book. While a certain familiarity with Kavalier and Clay certainly makes The Escapists more enjoyable, as does exposure to the inner workings of the comics industry, Vaughan's story has a much broader appeal. His characters and their own personal struggles are what carry the story. Comics are nothing if not a means of escapism, and this book never forgets that for a second. Read Full Review
