It's an American Vampire book. I have not been let down so far. While the issue starts out a little light on the action, discovering more about other types of vampires and the hints to a bigger world of them boggles my mind. There's the potential for other miniseries focussing on the other types (but my wallet begs to please let this not be the case). Scott Snyder makes writing comics seem easy. It feels like "American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest" has been building up to a very big moment and here that moment finally pins you down. Snyder and Murphy are changing the landscape of this book while also widening the perception we can all have of things that go bump in the night. With a mixture of character and concept, Snyder proves he is one of the best writers working right now and his personal title can still go pound-for-pound with any other book in terms of sheer levels of insane pleasure per 20 page dose. While American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest #4 isn't the strongest issue of the series to date, due in large part to a hefty amount of exposition to open up the book, the truth is it remains a great read that's probably better than 80% (rough estimate) of the titles hitting stands. If you're currently enjoying everything American vampire related like we are, odds are you'll enjoy this issue just the same. Read Full Review
