As with any review, opening with criticism can make it seem like the subject is poorly executed. That is hardly the case with Midnight. This series has always been a personal favorite of mine despite its odd delivery style. The "Bedtime Stories" arc in particular has been fascinating both in terms of the actual plot and its larger commentary on our own world.
