In the idyllic kingdom of Haven, the Frog Bombers are playing the Gobtown Crushers for the pennant, and the winner ison trial for murder. The star player for the winning team has been accused of committing a capital crime during the drunken victory celebrations. So far, Flycatcher (a.k.a. King Ambrose) has managed to avoid spilling blood in the formation of his new kingdom. But now he has to judge a trial wherein the only penalty for the guilty is death.     But I'll manage. Willingham delivers a fun and whimsical story. Even better, David Lapham settles in for a brief guest stint, and his pencils perfectly suit the tone of the story. Despite his tendency to take on darker stories, Lapham is equally skilled at humor and lighter conflicts. Between the two creators, Fables fans should find enough to sustain them until the series gets back to the Mr. Dark conflict. Read Full Review

    Maybe next month's conclusion of this two-parter will show me wrong and that Willingham has a big-picture surprise lurking in the wings. For now, though, I'm glad that we're getting some more art by Lapham, and will just hope for a lot more Red and Ambrose and perhaps less of the baseball teams. Read Full Review
