In The Unwritten Fables, part 3 of 5, Mister Dark finds an allysomeone who hates Tom Taylor more than he ever could, and knows where to hit him so it hurts the most. But as Mister Dark realizes the opportunity hes been offered, the stakes go from high to terrifying for Tom and the Fables refugees.
The Unwritten #52 is a solid installment of this crossover and a damn fine comic book. Carey is succeeding in doing something that is extremely difficult and doing both series justice in this crossover. Overall,The Unwritten #52 is another great issue of the Fables/Unwritten crossover, and by its end, the ante has certainly been upped a great deal, paving the way for an exciting final two issues of the crossover. While there are some hiccups when it comes to the art, it still doesn't detract from the overall story and the sense that we are definitely heading toward a brave new world when it's all said and done. As usual,The Unwritten is filled with great moments and characters that capture that sense of childlike wonder that you've been missing since you're favorite childhood bedtime stories so long ago (or not so long ago…it depends). This crummy crossover continues to be very underwhelming. I appreciate the attempt to connect two of Vertigo's worlds but this really isn't the type of storytelling that fans of The Unwritten want. Read Full Review
