Not canon but nice
This is super arguable. Of course you'll be forced to read this if you read Ultimate Spider-Man. At least for the Lizard issue. But... Does it really worth it? I mean, yeah, this exact Lizard issue was fine. Not the best comic, but it's definitely better, than everything else here. My main problems were with the art and retcons. Yeah, the retcons were made by OTHER comics in this universe, but they were really essential. Because Bendis almost didn't change most of these characters. So, why should normal writers use these typical 616 versions instead of something new? Even if it steps on the throat of this weak series...
And what can I recommend to read here apart from the Lizard? Actually, it's fine if you decide to read them all, but I warn you - it doesn't worth it...
The issues with Hulk were fine. At least it's still canon and it was mentioned many times after that. But Spidey's acquaintance with the Wolverine was completely forgot... And that issue wasn't even great. As well as the Iron Man's ones. Readable, but not good and not Ultimate at all. DD and Punisher 3-issue story was pretty weak too and there wasn't even a team-up.
Oh, the FF issue was so bad, that it was officially made to be not canon. And how bad were Doc Strange issues... Even if the story was bearable, but THE ART. IT'S NOT EVEN THE ART. IT'S A PILE OF BULLSHIT.
X-men and Shang Chi issues are worth reading too. Black Widow one was fine too. But at least for me it's not enough to call this series good.
Also this book includes Ultimate Spider-Man Super Special. It was a recap and the finish line for this series and THAT was something. Not perfect, but fine and emotional.
