It’s kind of refreshing going back and reading this all these old comics, without opening the ones I own lol..it’s good to go back and reading this to get a better understanding of John Stewart which is the journey I’m on..and learn a little more about the other lanterns I guess, focus being on John, Kyle, Baz, Jessica being the ones I like the most.

Green Lantern #184
First appearance of Guy Gardner! Many know the Green Lantern of Earth as Hal Jordan, but there is another with the ability to wield the Emerald Ring: Guy Gardner, a character who goes on to become a major player in Green Lantern history!
This issue is a reprint. It is also available online as Green Lantern (1960-1972) #59.
Not gonna lie....the cover word play kinda made me look at this book with a side eye. Overall though you get to learn how much stress psychically it puts on the ring wearer. That's something I thought of but never took into account before as that serious. That side story of Stel & Yron Green lanterns of past was interesting hope they go into that more.

Green Lantern #183
John Stewart battles against the villain Major Disaster, but finds himself unable to get the upper hand on the villain--until he comes up a plan involving a street full of Green Lanterns!
This fool over here regretting his decision. Ince he finds out who they gave the ring too...No sir. Not how it works there. I'm not fully onboard yet as to how their writing John, but it seems its going to take a few more books. Overall a decent read.

Green Lantern #182
Major Disaster insists on fighting Hal Jordan, but John Stewart has taken over as Green Lantern of Earth! And in the backup tale, Yron of Grenda becomes a Green Lantern.
Interesting I didn't know Hal had so many issues being bossed around. I mean especially being in the military. Then again he was just a Air Force test pilot lol...no shade them boy 7 girls have nerves of steel. You would think he can conduct himself a little better. I understand why he would choose the path he did.

Green Lantern #181
Green Lantern Hal Jordan makes a major decision and turns in his ring to the Guardians! Meanwhile, in the backup tale, Green Lantern Ch'p encounters pirates in a bar while on an alien world.
Well I've been reading comics for a long long longgggg time 😂. All I can say is...we've come a long way indeed. I decided to go on a character binge like I do from time to time..and John Stewart is up to bat. I know a decent amount but wanted to see how much he's changed since his inception. This was a good read for introduction to my favorite Green Lantern next to Kyle.

Green Lantern #87
When Earth's second Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, is injured, Hal's ring finds a new backup GL. But John Stewart seems like a strange hero: belligerent and cocky, he isn't above making some flashy moves while fighting crime. Plus: Green Arrow responds to a race riot by deciding to run for mayor of Coast City.
